Composite (fiber/paper) cans were found to be an inadequate substitute for metal cans; high density polyethylene cans with metal tops were only slightly better; high density polyethylene cans with pour spouts were found to be superior to metal cans in all applicable performance characteristics with exception of the stacking resistance.
