Evaluation of AURORA as a Tactical Source Region Simulation.

Abstract

This memo compares the AURORA environment with that expected in an actual tactical source region environment. The primary interest in making the comparison is to evaluate the role that AURORA can play as a source region simulator for tactical systems of interest to the U.S. Army Comparisons are made between the electric and magnetic fields measured in AURORA and those computed using a four source model of AUR3D. Excellent agreement is found in the comparison between the magnetic fields. The computed electric fields show a fundamentally different behavior from those measured in AURORA. (Author)
