Software Requirements Specification of A Proposed Plant Property Management Information System for the Naval Postgraduate School.

Abstract

The current system used to administer Plant Account equipment for academic departments at the Naval Postgraduate School involves four categories of system users and accountability for more than 2000 individual equipment items worth over seven million dollars. Implementation of a management information system (MIS) to support Plant Account equipment related functions could eliminate data handling redundancy and improved Plant Account administration effectiveness. This paper presents an analysis and a logical functional specification of the present Plant Account system. Additionally, it proposes a software requirements specification independent of any physical system implementation which could be used in designing an MIS to support administration of Plant Account equipment at the Naval Postgraduate School.
