An Interactive Computer Code for Water Waves in Open Channels.

Abstract

A computational model has been developed for the simulation of water waves in open channels. The model numerically solves a set of partial differential equations known as the Shallow Water equations. The method employed for the solution of these equations is the Finite Element Method with linear element approximations in time and space. The computer code was initially developed for the computational model on a HP-1000 computer system. This report contains the interactive version of the computer code, its description and provides information on how the code can be used. (Author)
