Abstract

This document describes the software developed as part of the Chicago O'Hare Runway Configuration Management System (CMS). The software is designed as an interactive automated planning aid to assist the O'Hare assistant chief in the consistent selection of efficient runway configurations in order to lower aircraft delays. In addition, CMS serves as an information management system by consolidating various airport data and making them available for the O'Hare facility personnel. Volume I of this document contains the general description of the CMS software plus high level pseudocode describing its logic. Volume II is dedicated to detailed description of the software via low level pseudocode. (Author)
