A History of U.S. (United States) Army Corrections.

Abstract

U.S. Army Corrections has progressed a long way from the use of physical punishment as a means of correcting behavior. This paper examines that history, starting in 1784 with the establishment of the first Federal Army, and concluding with the Army Correctional Program of the 1980's. The Correctional Training Concept was implemented in 1968 with the establishment of the Correctional Training Facility at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
