A Synopsis of Acquisition Related Topics.

Abstract

Managers and potential managers in the acquisition field should find this thesis to be a useful tool. It initiates development of a single reference that will provide a synoposis of current, important topics relevant to federal acquisition. Individual topics are divided into the following categories: contracting and general acquisition; legal; finance, economics and accounting; production; and logistics management. A broad introduction/definition is given in the initial 'discussion' section of each topic for a quick review. Individual topics are generally confined to three to four pages to provide an overview of the topic and mention related concepts. The depth of coverage in each topic should be sufficient for a working knowledge of the concept in the relation to negotiation, cost analysis or other aspects of the acquisition field. A list of 'references for further study' is supplied at the end of each topic as an initial step toward a more in-depth study of the subject matter or for application of the concept to the area of concern.
