ELF PVS Field Strength Measurements, October 1977

Abstract

From September 1976 to December 1978, extremely low frequency (ELF) field-strength and effective-noise measurements were taken aboard operational submarines. The results of measurements taken in Connecticut and aboard two submarines during October 1977 are discussed. The principal test result is that the average field strengths measured aboard the two submarines (one located in the North Atlantic and one located in the Western Pacific) are in excellent agreement with previous ELF measurements taken over similar paths.
