A Review of Selected Models.

Abstract

DNA 5452Z A Net Assessment of Tactical Nuclear Doctrine for the Integrated Battlefield, March 1981, presented alternative US/NATO corps tactical nuclear doctrines for evaluation. On the basis of the scenarios, doctrinal alternatives and EEA, a statement of model/war game requirements was developed. An extensive search was conducted to identify the model(s)/war game(s) which might be used as analytic tools for the evaluation of tactical nuclear warfare doctrines. Four models were selected for extensive review against the criteria set forth in the statement of model/war game requirements: DIVWAG, ICOR, TAC ASSESSOR, and VECTOR-2. This report summarizes the statement of model/war game requirements, presents an assessment for the selected models, and makes one recommendation with rationale.
