Potable Water Treatment for Diego Garcia.

Abstract

This report documents an engineering investigation for the development of a cost-effective water treatment system to be used at Diego Garcia. The system must effectively remove or reduce TDS, color, taste and odor, turbidity, and the excessive amounts of organics and microorganisms so that all EPA's drinking water standards can be met. A three-stage water treatment system consisting of a multi-media filter, a carbon filter and an RO system was tested at Diego Garcia and proved to be the most cost-effective treatment process.
