Abstract

An examination of the Army's present structure for aviation logistics support at Corps and EAC reveals fragmentation of responsibilities, a lack of flexibility, and a shortfall in aviation maintenance and supply support capabilities for a come as your are war. Restructing of the aviation logistics units of Corps and EAC is necessary to insure the sustainability and supportability of our currently fielded systems and of the more sophisticated future aviation systems and support equipment. Adoption of a standard structure for the Corps Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) Battlion and a new organization for Theater Army aviation logistics support will provide total logistics management of Army aircraft and related support systems with aviation logistics units tailored, trained and structured for responsive and technically proficient support.
