Cultural Resource Investigations for the Lyons Ferry Fish Hatchery Project, Near Lyons Ferry, Washington.

Abstract

A cultural resource study was made to identify, test, and make recommendations concerning the cultural resources that might be impacted by construction of the Lyons Ferry fish hatchery. The historic remains of an early 20th century railroad construction camp and three concentrations of prehistoric archaeological deposits were encountered within the project area. Testing of an aboriginal housepit cluster in the hatchery area showed it ot be substantially intact and scientifically significant. The decision was made for in-place preservation rather than data recovery excavation of the prehistoric house remains. (Author)
