Research and Development of Hazardous/Toxic Waste Analytical Screening Procedures. Available Field Methods for Rapid Screening of Hazardous Waste Materials at Waste Sites (Class A Poisons).

Abstract

A literature survey was undertaken to identify Class A poisons and to identify candidate field detection methods for each poison of interest to this study. The literature obtained on each candidate method was judged by the following criteria method complexity, field adaptability, reagent shelf life, interference levels, detection sensitivity, reagent cost and reagent toxicity. Candidate procedures were found for arsine, bromoacetone, cyanogen chloride, ethyl and methyldichloro-arsine, cyanogen, germane, hydrocuanic acid, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, phosgene, diphosgene, phosphine, phenylcarbylamine chloride, dichloro (2-chloro-vinyl) arsine, dichlordiethyl sulfide.
