Nonstructural Flood Control Measures: A Sociological Study of Innovation.

Abstract

Four of the major flood plain management measures--insurance, zoning, flood proofing, and warning systems--are discussed from the social perspective. An overview of the causes and effects of the various measures on policy agents, flood plain occupants, and the general community is provided. The final chapter presents specific recommendations to the Corps. (Author)
