Installation Restoration Program. Phase 1. Records Search, England AFB, Louisiana

Abstract

During the course of this project, interviews were conducted with base personnel (past and present) familiar with past waste disposal practices; file searches were performed for past hazardous waste activities; interviews were held with local, state and federal agencies; and inspections were conducted at past hazardous waste activity sites. Twenty sites located on the England AFB property were identified as potentially containing hazardous materials resulting from past activities. These sites have been assessed using a Hazard Assessment Rating Methodology (HARM) which takes into account factors such as site characteristics, waste characteristics, potential for contaminant migration and waste management practices. The rating system is designed to indicate the relative need for follow-on action.
