Methodology Investigation. Human Factors Jungle Test Area Relocation.

Abstract

The implementation of the Panama Canal Treaty (1 October 1979) necessitated the relocation of the US Army Tropic Test Center (USATTC) Gamboa A-1 test area. The relocation effort involved site selection, preparation, and a conceptual validation of the USATTC Human Factors Jungle Test Area (HFJTA). The HFJTA is composed of several independent test sites--the manpack portability course, the land navigation site, the sound localization site, the target detection site, and the rifle marksmanship site. The relocation task was completed and recommendations were for future efforts to focus on automating data acquisition and analysis, upgrading safety procedures, and revising appropriate test operation procedures.
