MINIFAST: An Interactive Enlisted Personnel Planning Model

Abstract

A model of the enlisted personnel system (MINIFAST) is described in terms of stocks and flows. The model describes system behavior for some given policy scenario under a fixed set of mathematical assumptions. MINIFAST has been installed in an interactive computer environment. The user can interactively input personnel objectives and then determine the effect of changes in policy in satisfying those objectives. The model can operate at the ALNAV or rating level, but not both simultaneously. Although its methodology resembles that of FAST, the mainframe enlisted personnel projection model, it sacrifices some detail and makes some assumptions in order to operate interactively.
