Harmonic Generation in Paramagnetic Spin Systems.

Abstract

The theory of resonant second and third harmonic generation is considered and applied to the case of paramagnetic spin systems tuned by a magnetic field. Using available spectroscopic and material parameters, conversion efficiencies of around 25% seem feasible. Optical nonlinearities in semiconductor super-lattice are considered and shown to have large second order optical nonlinearities in the mid-infrared.
