Particle Impact Erosion. Volume 4. User's Manual Erosion Prediction Procedure for Rocket Nozzle Expansion Region

Abstract

An experimental and analytical program was conducted to develop a methodology to predict total recession, including the contribution by particulate impact erosion, in solid propellant rocket nozzles. Under Phase 1, a methodology was developed for predicting recession due to particle impact erosion in the expansion (exit cone) region of nozzles. Under Phase 2, a methodology was developed for predicting recession due to erosion coupled with ablation in the entrance and throat regions of nozzles.
