Spectroscopic Studies of Lasing Transitions in the Diatomic Mercury Halides.

Abstract

The B X, C X, and D X emission transitions of HgC1, HgBr, and HgI have been photographed and analysed for single isotopomers containing 200 Hg. New methods have been devised for fitting data and approximating potential curves for heavy diatomics like the HgX molecules. Results for these molecules offer significant improvements in the spectroscopic parameters and related properties, such as Franck-Condon factors and dissociation energies. (Author)
