Proceedings of the Workshop on Ion Mixing and Surface Layer Alloying.

Abstract

The purpose of this workshop was to bring together in an informal setting individuals actively involved in ion mixing, and individuals working on high dose ion implantation and its application to the improvement of surface properties of solids. The objectives of the workshop included: Outline present understanding of the basic physical processes uderlying ion mixing; Compare the approach of ion mixing to that of high dose ion implantation; Assess the areas of greatest potential practical applications for ion mixing; and Identify critical areas on which future investigations should focus.
