Solutions of a Fourth Order Differential Equation Describing Mode Conversion in a Magnetized Plasma,

Abstract

This paper investigates the solutions of a fourth order differential equation which arises in the description of high frequency electrostatic waves near plasma resonance in a magnetized plasma with a zero order density gradient along the magnetic field. The behavior of the electrostatic potential is described by Poisson's equation.
