GSE for Balloon-Borne I.M.S.: Decommutator and D/A Units,

Abstract

Two ground based units to support data processing and control operations during the flight of a Balloon-Borne Ion Bass Spectrometer (BBIMS) are described. One of the units decommutated the incoming PCM data and presented that data upon request to a computer for further processing. The data was available through IEEE-488 compatible interface and/or in parallel form as 16 and/or 8 bit words. Communications interface for commands and messages to and from the airborne instrumentation was also provided. The second unit converted the digital data, supplied by the computer, into analog signals for display and recording. An IEEE-488 compatible interface was used for data transfer. (Author)
