Research in Network Management Techniques for Tactical Data Communication Networks.

Abstract

In this second semiannual report we describe work in three areas. Part A describes our work on packet radio networks. This section extends our work to include the effect of imperfectly heard acknowledgements. It describes and analyzes a new protocol that reduces this effect. The effect of the increase in overhead is also presented. In Part B we describe our work on new switching techniques. Here we prove and develop an optimum packetization strategy for a particular class of users. In Part C we discuss our work on probabilistic analysis of algorithms. In this work we analyze a particular algorithm, and discuss its probabilistic performance. Simulation results are also presented. The Appendix contains the manuscript of a paper on an algorithm for the knapsack problem. It is being submitted for publication.
