Data Validation and Summary for the NRL Remote Sensing Experiment. Phelps Bank, July, 1982. Part 1. Hydrography.

Abstract

During the NRL Remote Sensing Experiment in the Phelps Bank region hydrographic data were obtained with a Neil-Brown CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) profiler and with XBT (expendable bathythermograph) probes. The data is summarized, profiled and contoured. The contoured data is corrected for tidal advection and for the temporal change during the survey. The T, S (temperature, salinity) relation for the area is highly structural indicating the effects of mixing of shelf water and deep upwelling water in the presence of surface mixed layers having origins within and without the area.
