Marine Seismic System(MSS) Deployment. Phase IV. Investigation of Techniques and Deployment Scenarios for Installation of Tri-Axial Seismometer in a Borehole in the Deep Ocean

Abstract

This report presents the results of the Phase IV fabrication & operations activities associated with the Marine Seismic System (MSS) at-sea demonstration accomplished in Aug-Sep 1982. The operations were conducted using the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) drillship Glomar Challenger for an estimated period of 30 days. The overall MSS deployment program plan & associated costs estimate have been upgraded to reflect the emplacement of a borehole and the deployment of a configuration I BIP(Borehole Instrumentation Package) system in the South Pacific during the period of Feb 1983.
