Hough Transformation into Cache Accumulators: Considerations and Simulations,

Abstract

The Hough transform provides a paradigm for multi-dimensional pattern detection and more general parameter extraction. It has good properties in noise, but as usually implemented requires an accumulator array whose size is exponential in the number of parameters extracted. The idea of accumulating votes in a small content-addressable store raises many technical issues, some of which are outlined here. Simulation results illustrate some of the points. (Author)
