The Software Engineering Prototype.

Abstract

Experience has shown that the traditional method of software development often has poor results. Recently, a new approach to software development, the prototype approach, has been proposed. This thesis presents an integrated view of general design theories and relates that view to software design and development. The current thought on prototypes is described and the basic requirements for a software engineering environment are presented. Software prototypes are shown to support the integrated view of design. Four case studies of using prototypes are presented and recommendations for further study are made. (Author)
