An Analysis of Potential Protective Breathing Devices Intended for Use by Aircraft Passengers

Abstract

This report presents the results of tests performed to examine concepts for the development of a passenger-type protective breathing device which would provide protection from toxic smoke/fumes produced during an in- flight fire and afford some protection during emergency evacuations. Data examined include expiratory P02, PN2, PC02; inspiratory PC02; respiratory rates; and respiratory volume for the devices tested.
