Recreation Research Program: Perceptions of the Corps of Engineers' Recreation Concession Program.

Abstract

This report summarizes user perceptions, and concerns expressed by concession managers and Corps personnel for improving the Corps of Engineers' recreation concession program. The findings of a user survey confirm that most users are highly satisfied with the quality and availability of services and facilities provided at Corps concessions. Recommendations on additional facilities that should be provided to meet user needs are identified. A distinction is made between facilities and services traditionally provided by concessions and those provided by the Corps. Basically, users would be pleased with more of the same types of services and facilities being provided. Potential obstacles inherent in the Corps' concession program that present some limitations to the overall responsiveness to users are discussed. Recommendations are provided for improving the effectiveness of the Corps' concession program. (Author)
