The Reaction of CH3O2 with NO.

Abstract

The kinetics of reaction 1, CH302 + N0 yield CH30 + N02 were studied in the temperature range of 218deg K to 365deg K using the flash photolysis of C12 in the presence of CH4 and 02 as a source of CH302 radicals. These radicals were monitored by ultraviolet absorption. The rate coefficient k sub 1 = (2.1 + or - 1) x 10 to the minus 12th power exp(380 + or - 250/T)cu cm per sec at 200 Torr total pressure. The reaction is independent of pressure (70 - 600 Torr, mostly CH4) at 296deg K.
