Two-Stage Group Screening Search Routine: Program Description and User's Guide.

Abstract

Many experimental situations require consideration of a large number of factors. In such situations there is often a need, because of resource limitations, for an efficient method of factor screening. One such method is two-stage group screening. In this method the individual factors (each at two levels) are partitioned into groups, forming group factors. By assigning the same level to all component factors within each group, the group factors are tested as if they were single factors. All factors in groups found to have a significant effect are then tested individually in a second-stage experiment. This document describes a computer-aided search program developed to help select a satisfactory two-stage group screening strategy. The program, written in Fortran, is easy to use and provides practical insight into the use and selection of a two-stage group screening strategy. This report describes the program and serves as a user's guide. A listing of the program is included.
