ECM (Electronic Counter Measure) Signal Discrimination and Identification Techniques.

Abstract

This effort involved the design, development and test of a stand-alone Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) Signal Monitor (ESIM) for the terrestrial Line-of-Sight (LOS) Defense Communication System (DCS). The system developed monitors the IF and Baseband outputs of up to four digital radios while they are in service, to assess link quality. If ECM signals are detected, the level of interference and type of interference are reported to an operator. Key components of the system are a PDP-ll/23 minicomputer, and HP 8581A automatic spectrum analyzer, and a high-speed (60 MHz) analog-to-digital converter. This report provides a history of the project and a functional overview of the system. (Author)
