Mie Code AGAUS 82.

Abstract

This report contains descriptions of the mathematical background and a user's guide for Program AGAUS, a computer code which performs scalar Mie-based calculations of the single-scattering properties of polydisperse spherical aerosols. The principal quantities calculated by AGAUS are extinction, absorption, scattering and backscattering coefficients, and the angular intensity distribution of unpolarized incident radiation. A number of other quantities produced by AGAUS exist and are described in the user's manual portion of this report. AGAUS contains internal coding for seven different analytical size-distribution models and permits entry of an 'arbitrary' model as discrete data pairs (radius and relative or absolute number density). Provision is made for combining up to five of the analytic models within a single run and for addition, AGAUS contains internal coding for taking account of the growth of hygroscopic particles with varying relative humidity.
