Optimal Reconstructions and n-Widths.

Abstract

This research has been concerned with the interrelated subjects of n-widths and optimal reconstruction. An attempt has been made to establish a mathematical framework within which a general theory may be developed. In addition, two important problems have been solved. The first of these deals with n-widths of Sobolev spaces, while the second is concerned with optimal reconstruction and n-widths of time- and band-limited signals. (Author)
