Abstract

This Instruction Report contains information for Federal biologists and others on freshwater mussels. The content of this volume will aid in performing impact assessments and endangered species surveys where freshwater mollusks are involved. Information is provided on the following topics: collecting, preserving, and identifying mussels; methods for relocating and creating habitat for mussels; the commercial shell industry; and the technical literature concerning mussels.
