Close Approaches between Satellites in Circular Orbits.

Abstract

The variation in range between two satellites in different circular orbits is of interest in many space system problems. This report provides a simple expression for the range and presents an analysis of the frequency and duration of close approaches. The results are applied to a simple satellite search problem. Some relationships for the range rate are also given. (Author)
