Control System Test Vehicle (CSTV) Seakeeping Environment Suitability and Operational Guidelines,

Abstract

An evaluation of the suitability of the seaways that can be expected during CSTV operation in the Gulf of Mexico off of Panama City, Florida, is presented. Representative wave spectra from this area are presented which compare favorably with open ocean spectra and theoretical spectrum formulations. The problems which multidirectional seaways present to seakeeping trials are discussed and guidelines are presented to deal with operation in such seaways. General guidelines for conducting the seakeeping trials are also given. (Author)
