Mississippi River: Study of Alternatives for Rehabilitation of Lock and Dam Number 1. Minneapolis, Minnesota. Volume 3. Appendices B-F.

Abstract

It is recommended that both the landward lock, the riverward lock and the dam at Lock & Dam no. 1, Minneapolis, Minnesota be completely rehabilitated. Based on studies completed to the date of this report, more detailed studies are required to firmly establish cost estimates, environmental effects, and the construction scheduling necessary to insure the work can be completed in the proposed two year construction period without delaying navigation. This appendix covers the geologic data relevant to foundation conditions at Lock & Dam 1; soil and rock parameters used in the structural analysis; problems associated with the hydraulic filling, emptying, and venting system in the lock; a concrete evaluation study; and a study of the cofferdams.
