High Strain Rate Characterization of Materials

Abstract

New techniques have been developed to study dynamic tensile failure of ductile metals: expanding rings, and necked Hopkinson bar samples. Flat plate (spall) experiments have also been carried out. Results are presented for OFHC copper and some other metals.
