A Determination of the Information Requirements for the Management of the Acquisition of Technical Orders.

Abstract

The Aeronautical System Division (ASD) Directorate of Logistics is currently involved in a project to determine the adequacy of the management information system for the 15 logistics elements in the system acquisition process. This thesis project was an effort to determine the information used to manage one of the logistics elements, Technical Order (TO) Acquisition. A structured requirements definition methodology was used to interview seven TO managers within ASD and summarize the information they use to manage TO acquisition. Most of the information they use is contained in three documents, the TO Publication Plan, Verification Plan, and Status and Schedule Report. (Author)
