Installation Restoration Program. Phase 1 - Records Search, Castle AFB, California

Abstract

The Department of Defense (DOD) has developed a program to identify and evaluate past hazardous material disposal sites on DOD property, to control the migration of hazardous contaminants, and to control hazards to health or welfare that may result from these past disposal operations. This program is called the Installation Restoration Program (IRP). The IRP has four phases consisting of Phase 1, Initial Assessment/Records Search; Phase 2, Confirmation and Quantification; Phase 3, Technology Base Development; and Phase 4, Operations/Remedial Actions. Engineering-Science (ES) was retained by the United States Air Force to conduct the Phase 1, Initial Assessment/Records Search for Castle AFB with funds provided by the Strategic Air Command (SAC).
