The Development of a Numerical Solution to the Transport Equation. Report 2. Computational Procedures,

Abstract

This report, Report 2 in a three-report series, develops the computational procedures for implementing the numerical approximations to the transport equation. The stability and truncation error characteristics are presented for the schemes selected in Report 1 for the linearized form of the transport equation. Computational procedures are next developed for the nonlinear equation in transformed coordinates. Numerical approximations near boundaries, the hydrodynamic interface, and the determination of dispersion coefficients are developed for simulating conditions in Mississippi Sound and adjacent areas.
