A Test Strategy for High Resolution Image Scanners.

Abstract

The scope of this study is the design of a device-independent test strategy for performance tests of the AIDS(Advanced Image Digitizing System) scanner. Major system characteristics to be tested are the geometrical accuracy, linearity of gray shade response, MTF, and resolution of the output. Other parameters addressed here are dynamic range, noise, response uniformity, flare light, coherency, and temporal stability. Test standards are suggested and data processing aspects are considered for both the geometric and radiometric tests. The recommended test strategy is finally summarized in table format. (Author)
