A Computer Program for Solving the Parabolic Equation Using an Implicit Finite-Difference Solution Method and Incorporating Exact Interface Conditions
Abstract
An Implicit Finite-Difference (IFD) computer program that incorporates exact interface conditions has been developed for solving the parabolic equation. The model preserves continuity of pressure and continuity of the normal component of particle velocity at the interface between media having different sound speeds and densities. Interface conditions are preserved for horizontal and sloping interfaces along a user-specified bottom profile. Test cases are included to demonstrate the use of the model.
