Reactivity of TNT & TNT - Microbial Reduction Products with Soil Components

Abstract

The results of preliminary studies with TNT and TNT-reduction products and soil components are presented. The findings indicate the potential for binding reactions between some of these compounds and humic acid, as well as for peroxidase catalyzed reactions with one TNT-reduction product. There is a need for continued effort in these areas to fully understand the implications of these types of reactions in regards to the fate of munitions compounds in soils.
