Research on New Approaches to Optical Systems for Inertial Rotation Sensing
Abstract
This report describes further progress in the development of fiber optic Sagnac loops for inertial rotation sensing (i.e., fiber gyros). The report consists mainly of two sections. The first section describes work on developing a bidirectional optical amplifier for use in fiber optic sensing loops while the second section deals with limits on rotation sensitivity due to fiber scattering and noise statistics of optical sources.
