Acoustical Processes in Marine Sediments.

Abstract

This report describes research on (1) theoretical analyses of propagation in gassy sediments and reflection from porous marine sediments, (2) laboratory measurements of the properties of shear and compressional waves for comparison to predictions of the Biot theory, and (3) design of an experiment to measure the acoustical properties of hydrated marine sediments.
