Electric Remotely Piloted Vehicle (ERPV).

Abstract

Electric propulsion offers significant advantages over the present gasoline engine propulsion system on a Remotely Piloted Vehicle (RPV). The advantages are the result of technical advances in batteries, power transistors, permanent magnets and control methods. This report covers the ground & flight test of an RPV using a lithium thionyl chloride battery powering a samarium cobalt brushless DC Motor.
