Engineering Assistant Career Ladder AFS 553XO.

Abstract

This is a report of an occupational survey of the Engineering Assistant career ladder (AFS 553XO), completed by the Occupational Analysis Branch, USAF Occupational Measurement Center, in October 1983. The survey was requested by Headquarters, Air Training Command (TTQJ) to obtain current task and equipment data for use in evaluation of the effectiveness of the present training program. Major topics discussed in this report include: survey methodology; comparison of specialty jobs (career ladder structure) and other survey data with career ladder documents, such as AFR 39-1 Specialty Descriptions and the Specialty Training Standard (STS); analyses of Total Active Federal Military Service (TAFMS) groups and Duty Air Force Specialty Code (DAFSC) groups; analyses of major command (MAJCOM) groups; analyses of Continental United States (CONUS) versus overseas groups; a comparison of 5-skill level and 7-skill level Construction Contract Inspectors; and comparison of current survey data with previous survey data.
